Brevard Harbor Edge Purchases Farm
A real estate development professional with four decades of experience, Jimmy Winemiller has developed commercial and residential properties throughout Florida and the southern United States. Jimmy Winemiller serves as an agent for Brevard Harbor Edge, for which he purchased a property of 2,294 acres near Palm City in Martin County, Florida.
Purchased at auction in 2013, the farm property was owned by the Madonia family, who grew tomatoes, potatoes, squash, cabbage, peppers, and sweet corn. Situated along the I-95 interstate highway and the Florida turnpike, the property has a drip irrigation system throughout. Along with farmland, the property features an airstrip approved by the Federal Aviation Administration.
The St. Lucie Inlet Canal runs along the property lines. Future development potential includes a marina on the canal. The property has been divided into 250 lots with the airstrip occupying a common area. In 2014, Brevard Harbor Edge purchased 34 acres adjacent to the property, offering convenient access from the main road to the farm.

The Benefits of Drip Irrigation
A method of providing nutrients and water to crops, drip irrigation involves a system of interconnected pipes, valves, and tubes that are installed at the root zone of plants. Water drips slowly out of the system’s emitters, allowing the crops to take in the water and soil nutrients more efficiently due to localized emission. This allows for the optimal growth of plants since there is a significant reduction in fertilizer and water runoff.
At the same time, drip irrigation leads to significant water savings since it requires less water pressure and minimizes evaporation. It also prevents disease and rot by limiting the water contact to where the plant needs it most, and by keeping excessive moisture away from the leaves, stems and fruit. It keeps the rows between the crops dry, as well, thus limiting weed growth. As such, not only does drip irrigation reduce costs, but it also helps to increase crop yields.

Thoroughbreds and Other Horse Racing Breeds
Thoroughbred horses are one of the most popular breeds within the professional horse racing industry. In addition to the breed’s renowned speed and intelligence, thoroughbreds have a temperament that can be described as both friendly and competitive, making them an ideal racing horse breed, regardless of whether a rider is competing in a flat, steeplechase, point-to-point, or endurance competition.
That being said, thoroughbreds are far from the only popular horse racing breed. Arabians, for instance, were originally bred in the desert, and are now regarded as one of the most talented endurance racing breeds in the world. It should be noted that while Arabians make for good family horses, they are more hot-headed in temperament when compared to the average thoroughbred. Quarter horses, on the other hand, are best suited to flat races. In fact, the breed takes its name from the quarter mile flat. The versatility and loyalty of the appaloosa, meanwhile, makes the breed a fitting choice for flat and barrel competitions. Additional horse breeds that excel across various event types include the standardbred and the French and Orlov trotters.
Finally, the Shetland pony deserves to be compared to other racing breeds. While the Shetland would struggle to keep pace with a thoroughbred, they are still very fast animals and can serve as excellent training companions for young and undersized riders, as demonstrated at the annual Shetland Pony Grand Nationals event, which features riders as young as 8 years old.

Prize Money at Popular Horse Races Around the World

Both the Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes, meanwhile, have purses of $1.5 million, though the grand prize at the Preakness is $900,000, compared to $800,000 at Belmont. Furthermore, Belmont pays out to the top eight finishers, rather than the top five.
While these boast significant prizes, the Triple Crown events hardly represent the sport’s most lucrative races. The world’s wealthiest horse race, the Saudi Cup, carries a total purse of $20 million, with $10 million set aside for the winner.

An Overview of Thoroughbred Horses
Jimmy Winemiller is an accomplished entrepreneur and investor who has successfully completed a number of real estate deals involving large tracts of agricultural land. In addition, Jimmy Winemiller has been involved with many other real estate projects, ranging from closing on multi-purpose commercial properties to his past ownership of Iron Horse Farm and 12 thoroughbred horses.
The use of the term “thoroughbred” is highly specific in the world of horse racing. Generally speaking, a thoroughbred is a horse that has been specifically bred as a competitive race horse. However, the term is often incorrectly applied to any purebred horse. Furthermore, the term is sometimes used colloquially outside of horse racing to describe any well-bred animal, or even a well-educated person.
In fact, thoroughbreds are a distinct breed of horse. The breed’s lineage can be traced back to the 17th and 18th centuries, when English mares were bred with horses of Arabian, Barb, and Turkish descent. The results were a very fast and agile animal. Today, approximately 20,000 thoroughbred foals are registered in the United States each year. While the thoroughbred is a popular choice for competitive breeders, American quarter horses, Arabians, and several other breeds are also commonly seen on the racetrack.

Basic Methods of Valuing Farmland
Entrepreneur and property developer Jimmy Winemiller has developed residential and commercial properties in several states. In addition, Jimmy Winemiller has had significant success in purchasing and enhancing large-scale farming operations.
Farmland is often an important source of collateral for loans and is the de facto source of retirement funds for farmer-owners. One challenge when dealing with farmland is assessing its value correctly.
Farmland can be evaluated in terms of the value it could fetch on the market, or it can be evaluated based on its use value. While market value is fairly straightforward, use value is a bit more complicated and is assessed as a factor of what is produced on the land.
Use value calculation starts with a base rate that is standard across a state. This is multiplied by the soil productivity factor, as determined by agronomists. That rate is then multiplied by an influence factor that takes into account elements such as flooding. The resulting figure is the use value of the land. It is often a way to reduce the tax burden on owners, since all states have a use value-based form of land taxation.

Jimmy Winemiller has built a career selling commercial and residential real estate in the South. In 2012, Jimmy Winemiller sold his Iron Horse Farm in Perryville, Arkansas, to Calfneck Capital Corporation. The real estate investor and horse-racing enthusiast initially purchased the property to breed and train horses. A few of the horses born on Iron Horse Farm have competed in popular races, including the one at Louisiana Downs.
Louisiana Downs is located in Bossier City, and is the home of the Super Derby, one of the most popular events for racing 3-year-old horses in North America. Opening in 1974 to 15,000 fans, the track set records for attendance. The first Super Derby was then held in 1980 on a 1.25-mile track.
The track has become popular for hosting some of the most successful horses in racing, including Preakness winners, Belmont Stakes winners, Travers Stakes winners, and four Kentucky Derby winners.

The Many Uses of Bermuda Grass
A seasoned real estate developer, Jimmy Winemiller once owned the Iron Horse Farm in Perryville, Arkansas. Along with his wife, Becky, he raised exceptional thoroughbred horses on the 506-acre property. Jimmy Winemiller made numerous improvements on the farm including the removal of all Fescue grass, which caused birthing problems with mares. He replanted these areas with Bermuda grass.
Native to Southeast Africa, Bermuda grass is a warm-season perennial grass that is ideally grown in hot, humid climates. An important species in the Deep South, it can also be grown in all parts of Arkansas. Of average nutrient quality, Bermuda is the fastest growing warm-season grass, and its ability to continue growing, even under close grazing, makes it an excellent horse pasture forage. Its high yield also makes Bermuda ideal for horse hay.
Able to recover from damage much faster than most grasses, it can handle heavy traffic and can be utilized to control erosion in rolling pastures. Bermuda grass can also endure salt, drought, and heat. Its use goes beyond farming as its characteristics also make it suitable for golf teeing grounds and athletic fields. Bermuda is a popular lawn grass from the Pacific to the Atlantic coasts.

Three of America’s Most Famous Racehorses
An avid entrepreneur and businessman, Jimmy Winemiller has overseen the purchase and sale of numerous agricultural properties over the past five decades. Jimmy Winemiller has also been involved in the field of horseracing for over two decades as an owner and breeder of thoroughbred horses.
Thoroughbreds are known as the most suitable breed of horse for speed and racing. Three of America’s most famous thoroughbred racehorses are listed below.
1. Man o’War. Regarded as the greatest racehorse of all time, Man o’ War established records in the United States at five different distances and earned more money than any other racehorse of his era. Upon retirement as a stud, he passed his lineage on to several top performing horses over the following two decades.
2. Seabiscuit. Although he failed to show racehorse potential in his early years, Seabiscuit was placed with a new trainer as a three-year-old and subsequently began to experience racing success. After suffering a potentially career-ending injury in 1939, Seabiscuit made an unexpected and remarkable recovery after which he was able to win one of the most significant races for older horses, the Santa Anita Handicap.
3. Secretariat. Earning a fourth place in his first race at Aqueduct Racetrack, Secretariat proceeded to win five subsequent races. He was named American Horse of the Year in 1972 and was the first horse to win the Kentucky Derby in less than two minutes when he was a three year old in 1973. He went onto become a Triple Crown winner after capturing first place at the prestigious Belmont Stakes and Preakness Stakes.

The Mississippi Delta Abounds in Wood Ducks
Based in Memphis, Tennessee, Jimmy Winemiller maintains a portfolio of real estate properties and development projects across several states. Among the properties Jimmy Winemiller has operated is Mallard Manor, a working farm and hunting resort on the Mississippi Delta that spans over 1,000 acres and offers an antebellum lodge with more than 10,000 square feet of Old South comfort.
Tupelo and cypress breaks among the fields provide for exceptional duck hunting, while managed forest areas include deer stands that allow deer hunting. A full 838 acres of the property are given over to agriculture that includes soybeans and flooded rice fields.
The Mississippi River delta is a traditional wintering spot for several species of waterfowl, including the wood duck, which holds distinction as the state duck. The species is unique in that it nests in both hollow tree cavities as well as in elevated boxes set up for it. Adapted for living amid thick foliage, the wood duck has large eyes that allow it to see better than most ducks and can nest as far as five miles inland.
While young ducks feed on insects, adult wood ducks have a primarily vegetarian diet. Hunters typically find the ducks foraging for duckweed, pondweed, acorns, and water lilies or seeking out aquatic invertebrates near the water surface.

Previously a military housing site, The Enclave will be an upscale residential community of condominiums and single-family homes. The developers will set aside 25 percent of the area for commercial purposes with plans to construct a 160-room, four-star hotel on the southeast portion overlooking the beach.
After 80 single-family homes and the hotel are built, four condominiums will be constructed on the southern end of the parcel. Each will have an unobstructed view of the ocean.

What Does It Mean to “Break” a Horse?
The operator of both the Dahomey Plantation farm and the Mallard Manor waterfowl hunting resort, Jimmy Winemiller has directed a range of endeavors in the fields of animal husbandry and agriculture. Along with his wife, Jimmy Winemiller formerly ran the Iron Horse Farm in Perryville, Arkansas, where they bred, broke, and trained thoroughbred horses.
Briefly defined, the phrase “breaking a horse” means preparing it to safely carry a rider. On the small and sliver screens, cowboy characters have long broken horses by sneaking up on them, harnessing them with saddles, forcing bits in their mouths, and then simply hanging on as the horses kick and buck.
While some still break horses in this fashion, most professional organizations employ modern techniques that trade sheer force for gentle encouragement and positive reinforcement. Actually, most modern horse trainers/owners begin breaking in horses from birth by ensuring that they are used to being led and handled.
As yearlings, these horses can begin to carry equipment and tack. However, trainers/owners should take care to add gear slowly, giving the animal plenty of time to adjust to each item. The introduction of riders should also be a measured process that gradually teaches horses to respond to instructions such as stop, go, and turn.
